01 · One Candle
Read a Single Candle First
Every candle encodes four prices over its period: where it opened, where it closed, and the high and lowit reached. The thick body is open-to-close; a green body means price finished higher, red means lower. The thin wicks are the extremes the price touched but didn't hold.
| Part | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Body (green) | Close above open — buyers won the period |
| Body (red) | Close below open — sellers won the period |
| Long body | Strong conviction in that direction |
| Long wick | Price was rejected from that extreme |
| Tiny body (doji) | Indecision — buyers and sellers balanced |
02 · Patterns
The Few Patterns Worth Knowing
| Pattern | Shape | Common meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Doji | Tiny body, wicks both sides | Indecision; possible turning point |
| Hammer | Small body, long lower wick | Buyers rejected lower prices — possible bounce |
| Shooting star | Small body, long upper wick | Sellers rejected higher prices — possible drop |
| Bullish engulfing | Green body swallows prior red | Momentum shifting up |
| Bearish engulfing | Red body swallows prior green | Momentum shifting down |
Context is the whole game
The same pattern means different things in different places. A hammer at a support level after a downtrend is a real signal; the identical hammer mid-range is noise. Always read the pattern and where it happens.
03 · Practice & Automate
From Watching to Executing
Practise reading on the demo account on a slower timeframe, where each candle has time to mean something. Once a rule is clear and tested, you can hand the watching to a bot: Koala S Pro's Indicator and Momentummodes act on technical logic automatically, so you don't have to stare at every candle to act on one.
No pattern predicts the future — candlesticks describe probability, not destiny, and binary options carry a real risk of losing capital. Combine reads with strict risk management and prove any automated setup on demo. Koala S Pro is a tool, not financial advice.
04 · FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a single candlestick show?
Four prices over a period: open, close, high and low. The body spans open-to-close (green if price rose, red if it fell); the thin wicks show the high and low extremes it touched.
Which candlestick patterns matter most?
A few earn their keep: doji (indecision), hammer/shooting star (rejection), and bullish/bearish engulfing (momentum shift). Learn these well rather than memorising fifty rare ones.
Do candlestick patterns predict the next move?
No — they signal probability, not certainty, and only in context (trend, support/resistance, session). A hammer at support means far more than one in the middle of nowhere.
Can I automate candlestick reading?
Partly. The Indicator and Momentum modes in Koala S Pro act on technical logic (SMA/EMA/RSI and momentum patterns) automatically, so you don't have to watch every candle. Validate any config on demo first.
Which timeframe should a beginner use?
Start on a slower timeframe (e.g. 5m) so each candle carries more meaning and you have time to think. Ultra-short candles are noisier and punish slow decisions.
